Sunni Fass

 

At MIM, Sunni is the Assistant Curator of Non-Western instruments and is responsible for instrument/content research and collection development. Sunni holds MA and PhD degrees in ethnomusicology from Indiana University and a BA in English from The College of William and Mary. Her academic work has focused on issues of space and place in world music festivals, the display of instruments in a museum context, and flutes/aerophones of Madagascar and the Middle East. Most recently, Sunni was the project coordinator/administrator at the Archives of African American Music and Culture in Bloomington, Indiana and previously worked as a visitor services representative and guest curator for the Mathers Museum of World Cultures in Bloomington. Her exhibits include "Cultural Resonance: Interpreting Musical Instruments" and "A Change Is Gonna Come: Black Music and Political Activism."
